“I was diagnosed with mesothelioma in January, 2004. Since that time, treatment had included numerous hospital stays, tests, scans, chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. When I learned that the 8 chemotherapy treatments that I had did not get rid of the cancer, we contacted Dr. David Sugarbaker in Boston. Dr. Sugarbaker specializes in the treatment of mesothelioma, and is highly renowned for his work in this field.
Thanks to the settlements that I received from CHLW, my wife and I were financially able to travel to Boston where Dr. Sugarbaker performed lung surgery. After recovering from the surgery, we had to return to Boston for 6 weeks of follow-up radiation treatments at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. My wife and I spent a total of 3 months in Boston at that time. Since there is no cure for mesothelioma, we must periodically travel to Boston for tests and treatments.
Without your help and expertise we could never have afforded to do this, and I would not have been able to receive the state-of-the-art treatment provided in Boston which I need to continue to fight mesothelioma.
